Responding to Disaster

In this webinar, mental health professionals will explore the psychosocial impact of disasters and terrorism, as well as strategies and systems for assessing the need for mental health intervention and providing appropriate types of early psychological intervention in the wake of a disaster or terrorist event. This webinar addresses the critical knowledge areas and skill sets that will allow clinicians to work with the federal and state disaster mental health system, law enforcement and emergency management system in addressing the mental health consequences of such events. This webinar introduces and is consistent with the Federal Emergency Management (FEMA)-Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) model of community crisis intervention, as well as the disaster mental health training curriculum standards established by the National Center for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
