Living as a Multicultural Family: An Adoptive Family Perspective
When people choose to build a multicultural family through adoption, they incur the responsibility of redesigning their entire family's cultural identity. To succeed, parents must explore what it means to be subject to heightened social scrutiny as a "conspicuous family", develop the vocabulary to craft age-appropriate lessons about race and culture, and build the self-confidence and clarity of motives to engage others about what it means to be a true multicultural family. This webinar is designed to develop the practitioner's skill in broaching this subject with clients of all backgrounds and guiding them on their journey beyond their existing social perceptions, and often their own comfort zone.
