Beyond the Individual: A Community Beset by Racial Trauma

The COVID-19 pandemic undeniably exposed endemic vulnerabilities within the black community resulting from centuries of systemic oppression. The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study is a landmark public health study that expanded our understanding of trauma and its impact, yet still falls short of elucidating the disparate impact of trauma and how it effects entire communities. With racial trauma as a central focus, this workshop will augment your understanding of trauma, beyond the level of the individual, toward an understanding of how it manifests in a community. This webinar will advance a framework for understanding racially influenced community trauma, its drivers, and its consequences. As well as offering treatment considerations for clinical practice.
